When you purchase a piece of Katy Lynn Pottery you are getting an extremely well-crafted piece that has received tons of love from day one! I strive to create work that is elegant yet minimalistic so it can fit into your everyday life- making every day as special as you!
What do I create? I’m a potter with a serious plant obsession! So I make ceramic plant accouterments- hanging planters, tabletop planters, propagation stations (both hanging and tabletop versions), and bud vases. I also have a line of home accessory products including oil lamps, beverage crocks, cups, and holiday ornaments. Along with a line of heirloom jewelry, all made with hypoallergenic metals.
My creative process involves porcelain and stoneware thrown on the potter's wheel, then I incorporate hand-building by altering my thrown forms with darts, much like a seamstress making pleats. I pleat my work to give it a triangular look, then dress my forms with carvings using geometry. The carvings are created with a scalpel and filled with cobalt, a technique called Mishima, which inlays the cobalt onto the pot's surface. My earrings are made solely via hand-building with slabs of clay, then I pinch each earring to ensure it's thin and lightweight for easy wearing!
My pallet for glazes and the overall aesthetic is minimalistic- using clean crisp blues, whites, and neutrals to finish my work. Visit our website to shop our products or visit our events page to catch us in person at a market!
