Who We Are and the History of Viking Wire Weaving

At Wire You Waiting, we take the ancient Viking Wire Weave technique and bring it into the modern era. Using contemporary wire and color options, we make beautiful, unique Viking-inspired jewelry. Viking Wire Weave, also called Trichinopoly or Viking Knit, is a technique used to make jewelry (necklaces and bracelets) and decoration (clothing and housewares) that was found in the gravesites of the Norse peoples dating from the 8th to 10th centuries. Technically the technique is not knitting as no needles are used; instead, wire is woven around a wooden dowel or mandrel, and then drawn through a wooden paddle with progressively smaller holes. This paddle compresses the weave, making the final chain thinner but significantly stronger than it was before. Given that making thin wire in Silver, Gold, or Bronze in that period would have been costly and time-consuming, it tended to be worn by the upper-class Norsemen. Viking Wire Weaving is rarer than the twisted wire jewelry commonly known, which uses a thicker piece of metal and is usually made at a forge. Historically, men would wear a necklace and/or a single bracelet. Women, on the other hand, would wear any and all adornments (Note: bracelets tended to be worn in pairs for balance).

We provide this snapshot of a cupcake and treat products we make and would sell during the festival. All cupcakes are vegan and not only pet safe but 100% human edible. Any product that looks like chocolate is Carob (pet safe with no toxins or caffeine). All products are milk/milk fat-free. The product icing uses evaporated cane.;

We also sell pet bandannas. We add ribbon, lace, bling, floral accents, and a wide variety of buttons to attach the reversible products/designs.

The food products are kept frozen and when they thaw, the locked-in moisture is 100% available and the product remains tender, soft, and wonderful to eat. Then bakery products are 9 months shelf-stable and maybe cut and re-frozen. Each is packaged individually and packed to assure each remains together. The cupcakes and other desserts are so desirable—it is hard to resist tasting them….our pets get jealous ♥️
